Specific construction techniques included employing traditional Mayan building methods and utilizing locally-sourced materials like Capote wood for its resilience and minimal environmental impact. These approaches not only preserved the natural landscape but also contributed to the unique aesthetic and sustainability ethos of Azulik. The space was completed in November of 2018 using four different materials:
1. Capote wood from the Yucatan Peninsula
Azulik incorporates the unique and sustainable Capote wood in its construction for its durability and natural resistance to pests, enhancing the resort's ecological harmony and longevity.

Ancestral knowledge of local materials, contributed by Mayan workers, allowed for limited environmental impact. The design of SFER IK developed organically, without architectural planning, to allow for freedom of expression. Using a biomorphic architecture style that draws inspiration from natural forms and patterns, the space emulates shapes, structures, and aesthetics found in living organisms. It features fluid, curvilinear lines, undulating surfaces, and asymmetrical shapes, mirroring the complexity and beauty of nature.
